# Your first bug report

This walks through one bug report from start to finish: record the tab, review what was captured, share it, and open it in Faylee. It assumes the extension is installed and connected. If it is not, start with [Install the extension](https://faylee.app/docs/getting-started/install.md).

## Record the bug

1. Open the page with the bug.
2. Click the Faylee icon in the toolbar. The popup lists what Faylee can do on this page: **Capture screenshot**, **Record tab**, **Save the last 2 min** and **Create recording link**.
3. To narrate as you go, click the **Mic off** pill on the **Record tab** row so it reads **Mic on**. The first time, Faylee asks for microphone access.
4. Click **Record tab**. A three-second countdown shows on the page. It is not part of the video.
5. Reproduce the bug. Click, type and navigate as you normally would. Faylee records the console, the network and your steps alongside the video.
6. Click **Finish** on the control bar at the bottom of the page, or press <kbd>Alt</kbd>+<kbd>Shift</kbd>+<kbd>V</kbd> (<kbd>Control</kbd>+<kbd>Shift</kbd>+<kbd>V</kbd> on a Mac).

:::tip
If the bug already happened, you do not need to reproduce it. Click **Save the last 2 min** instead, and Faylee saves what happened on the page before you opened the popup. See [Instant replay](https://faylee.app/docs/capture/instant-replay.md).

## Review it

When you finish, Faylee opens the review over the page you recorded. Nothing has been uploaded yet.

- Drag the handles under the video to **Trim** the start and end. The cut parts, and everything captured during them, are removed before upload.
- Give it a **Title**. If your workspace has the assistant turned on, or Chrome has its on-device model ready, a title is suggested under the field and a description is drafted in **What went wrong?**. Press <kbd>Tab</kbd> in the empty description to use the draft.
- Under **Included**, the console, network and steps are on. Click one to leave it out. Failed requests are listed below, and you can leave out any single one.

If you close the review, the capture is kept as a draft in the popup under **Recent captures**. See [Review and share](https://faylee.app/docs/capture/review-and-share.md) for everything on this screen.

## Share it

Click **Share**. Faylee hides tokens, cookies, authorization headers and password fields, uploads the recording to your workspace, and copies the link to your clipboard. The recording then opens in a new tab.

By default the link opens only for people signed in to your workspace. To share it outside, use the arrow next to **Copy link** on the recording and choose **Who can open it…**. See [Sharing and embeds](https://faylee.app/docs/workspace/sharing.md).

## Open it in the viewer

The recording page plays the video at the top, with the title and description under it. Beside it, or below on a narrow window, are tabs for what was captured:

- **Info**: the pages visited, your app's metadata, the browser, system, window size and network, and Web Vitals.
- **Console**: every message and error, in time with the video.
- **Network**: every request with its headers and bodies.
- **Actions**: the steps to reproduce, which you can copy as text or as a Playwright test.

Markers on the timeline show errors, failed requests, clicks and page changes. Click one to jump there. See [The viewer](https://faylee.app/docs/viewer/overview.md).

## File an issue (optional)

If your workspace has an issue tracker connected, you can file the bug without leaving Faylee.

- **While sharing:** in the review, open **Share as** and pick the tracker. The button changes to **Share and create** followed by the tracker's issue, and the issue is filed with the link once the recording is shared.
- **From the recording:** click **Send to app** in the recording's header and choose the tracker under **Create an issue in**.

Faylee remembers where you filed last, so your next report starts there. See [Issue trackers](https://faylee.app/docs/integrations/issue-trackers.md) to connect one.
