A recording is where the team works on the bug. Comments, the checklist and triage all live on the recording page, under the media, so the discussion stays next to the evidence.

Anyone in the workspace can comment, react, keep the checklist and change triage. People who open a share link without being in the workspace can read the comments and the checklist, but can’t add to them.

The comment box is at the end of the recording page. Type your comment and press Comment. Comments read oldest first, like an issue tracker.

Each comment is tied to the moment the player is at. The At 0:42 checkbox beside the box shows that time, and it is ticked by default. Untick it for a comment about the recording as a whole. A comment tied to a moment shows its time, and clicking the time plays from there. It also shows as a chip on the timeline.

To delete a comment, hover it and choose Delete comment. You can delete your own comments, and workspace admins can delete any comment. Deleting removes it for everyone.

A comment can point at the exact part of the screen it is about.

  1. Pause the player at the moment you want.
  2. Press Point at a spot beside the comment box.
  3. Click the part of the video the comment is about.
  4. Write the comment and press Comment.

The comment shows as a numbered pin on the video for two seconds either side of its moment. Click a pin to scroll to its comment. Unpin spot removes the spot before you post.

Type @ in the comment box and pick a person from the list to mention them. Only people in the workspace can be mentioned. A mentioned person gets a notification, as described below.

Every comment has its own link. Opening it scrolls the recording page to that comment. The emails Faylee sends about a comment use these links.

React at this moment in the player controls pins an emoji to the current time, for a quick “same here” without writing a comment. The choices are 👍, 👀, 🐛, 🔥, ✅ and ❓. Reactions show on the timeline alongside pinned comments.

Each recording has a checklist above its comments, for what still needs checking or fixing. Type into Add a step to check… and press Enter to add an item. Anyone in the workspace can tick an item, and hovering a ticked item shows who did it. The heading shows how many are done, such as Checklist 2/5.

The triage button under the recording’s title shows its status and priority. Click it to change any of four fields. Each change saves at once.

FieldChoices
StatusOpen, In progress, Resolved, Won’t fix
PriorityNo priority, Urgent, High, Medium, Low
AssigneeNobody, or anyone in the workspace
EnvironmentUnknown, Production, Staging, Development

A new recording starts as Open with no priority. Faylee guesses its environment from the page’s address: localhost and .test addresses are Development, addresses such as staging. and qa. are Staging, and anything else is Production. Change it when the guess is wrong.

Faylee tells people when something happens to a recording that concerns them:

  • The recording’s author and anyone mentioned hear about a new comment.
  • A person hears when a recording is assigned to them.
  • The author and the assignee hear when the status changes.
  • The member who made a recording link hears when a recording arrives through it.

Nobody is told about their own actions.

Every notification shows under the bell in the sidebar, with a count of unread ones. Open it to see the list and go to the recording. Mark all read clears the count.

You choose how notifications reach you by email under Settings, Profile, Email notifications:

ChoiceWhat happens
Each one as it happensAn email for every notification
One digest an hour at mostNotifications are collected and sent together, at most once an hour
Never, just show them in FayleeNo email. Notifications only show under the bell

The line under the recording’s title shows Seen by with a count once someone other than the author has opened it. Click it to see which workspace members opened it and when, and how many people outside the workspace opened the share link. Faylee counts visits to the recording page and the share link, and never counts the author.

The library lists every recording in the workspace, 24 to a page.

The Search recordings box matches titles, descriptions and page addresses. Next to it, filters narrow the list:

  • Any status and Any priority, from triage.
  • Every kind: recordings, instant replays or screenshots.
  • Any tag, when the workspace uses tags.
  • Made by anyone and Assigned to anyone, when the workspace has more than one person.
  • With problems, which keeps recordings that captured errors or failed requests.

Filters are kept in the page address, so you can bookmark or share a filtered view. Clear filters resets them.

Folders are listed in the sidebar under Folders, and anyone in the workspace can make them.

  • Press New folder, the folder icon beside the heading, to create one. Names are unique in a workspace, regardless of case.
  • Use the menu beside a folder to Rename or delete it. Deleting a folder keeps its recordings in the library, outside any folder.
  • To file a recording, open it, choose the arrow beside Copy link, then Edit details, folder and tags….
  • To move several at once, tick them in the library and use Move to in the bar that appears. Move to trash in the same bar trashes them all.

Tags are set in the same Edit details, folder and tags… dialog. A recording can have up to 10 tags of up to 32 characters each. Tags are stored in lowercase.

Import HAR in the library turns a HAR file exported from browser devtools or a proxy into a recording with its network requests. Secrets in it are hidden in your browser before it is uploaded.

Insights in the sidebar shows how bugs come in across the workspace:

  • Recordings per week for the last twelve weeks, with the share that captured a failure.
  • By status, a count of recordings in each triage status.
  • Still open, by priority.
  • Problems seen most in the last 30 days, such as repeated errors and failing requests.
  • Pages reported most in the last 30 days.
