Faylee’s shortcuts let you capture without opening the toolbar popup. That matters most for a bug that only shows for a moment, and for recordings where the popup would get in the way.

These work in any tab Faylee can capture.

Pause or resume the recordingNot setNot set

The recording shortcut starts a recording with the options you chose last in the popup: the tab or a screen, the microphone, the camera and the countdown. While Chrome’s picker or the countdown is showing, it calls the recording off. While a recording runs, it finishes it and opens the review.

Pause has no key by default, because Chrome lets an extension suggest at most four. Set one yourself as described below.

On a Mac, Option+Shift and a letter types a special character, so the capture shortcuts use Control+Shift instead. Chrome writes them as ⌃⇧V, ⌃⇧I and ⌃⇧S.

Chrome manages extension shortcuts. To change them:

  1. Open chrome://extensions/shortcuts, or click Change shortcuts under Keyboard shortcuts in Faylee’s settings.
  2. Find Faylee and click the pencil next to the shortcut you want to change.
  3. Press the new keys.

You can also choose whether each shortcut works only in Chrome or everywhere on your computer. Faylee’s settings and the toolbar popup always show the keys that are actually set, so they stay right after you change them. A shortcut without a key shows as “Not set”.

While a recording runs, these keys work on the recorded page. On a Mac they use Option+Shift, written ⌥⇧, since they match the physical key.

Pressing a tool’s keys again puts it away. They do nothing while you are typing in a field, so they never get in the way of text. These keys are fixed and cannot be changed. See Drawing, blurring and suggesting.
